READING IRELAND ISSUE 16

Issue 16 of Reading Ireland is a tribute issue for the late Derek Mahon, which is guest edited by Mary O’Malley, who selected a group of Mahon’s fellow poets and friends along with other writers and scholars to celebrate his life and work. Highlights include personal essays by Michael Longley and Gerald Dawe along with essays on Mahon’s classical dramas and translations from Fiona Macintosh and Hugh Haughton, and further analysis of his poetry by O’Malley, Colum Tobin, John McAuliffe, Daniel Tobin and Siobhan Campbell. Vincent Woods shares an important 2007 interview he did with Mahon for RTÉ and acclaimed photographer John Minihan contributes several photographs of the poet.
