READING IRELAND ISSUE 1

Vol. I issue I was published in Spring 2015. Contents for issue 1 include an essay on Dubliners which discusses the innovative ways in which writers, scholars and readers are engaging with Joyce’s short stories one hundred years after publication, along with an essay by Irish poet and historian Michael Farry which provides a fascinating factual context to some of the issues in the Dubliners story, “Ivy Day in the Committee Room.” Also included is a critical appraisal of the work of novelist Jennifer Johnston, along with an interview with Johnston. The single issue “Little Magazine,” The Klaxton (1923-1924) is also spotlighted.
